Spring Fling Footwear

Oh Spring!  My favourite season.  The warmer weather, the smell of the earth coming alive again, and the shoes…oh the shoes!  Gone are the practical boots of yore!  Here are the perfectly pretty heels of today!  (Which reminds me it’s time for a pedi).

Louboutin never fails to disappoint.  Turquoise, purple, and the bluest of blues adorn the highest of heels this spring.  Since I am unable to take any pics off the website, go to www.christianlouboutin.comand check out the high heels.  The turquoise butterfly looking ones are my fave.

The Spring collection of Jimmy Choo leaves something to be desired.  I am pretty sure I have seen similar shoes at lower price points in the past.  Not very inspired, although if you are looking for a pair of fabulous red pumps to take you back to Oz then these ones from Choo should do the trick

The only unfortunate part about spring is the return of the espradrille.  Ugh!  We want Dorothy, not the Scarecrow people.  If I wanted straw on my feet I’d go to the country and muck about with the horses.

Props to Stella McCartney for the bright colour though.

And finally a shoe that makes me giddy like the school girl I never was (giddy, that is. I am pretty sure I was always a girl), from the wonderful world of Valentino.  The heel is little (perfect for dancing the night away), the sparkle quota is met, and they are girlie without being…girlie

They just make me happy.

Dreaming of Sugarplums (But Really It’s Shoes)

I haven’t posted anything about shoes in a while, but it doesn’t mean I haven’t been coveting. Oh, I have been coveting.  Yearning, really.  All of the holiday shoes with their sparkly pointed toes and zipper heels. It runs the gamut this year from flashy to trashy to suede to leather to…well you name it, it’s out there!

I am a very practical girl, but for some reason all practicality goes out and is replaced with insanity when it comes to footwear. I’ll just put it out there right now that I have about 3 pairs  5 pairs of sensible shoes I alternate between on a daily basis. I really am not one of those (lucky) girls who require a walk-in for their prized possessions. With the Christmas season approaching I am reminded of holiday magic.  Holiday magic is usually reserved for when someone wants to spread peace on earth and good cheer, but these shoes would definitely put me in a cheerful mood!  Most people will be dreaming of sugarplums, but I will be dreaming of sugared shoes.  Only sugar will be replaced with crystals. Like these Louboutins.

 Sparkle Louboutins

Dorothy never had ruby slippers this cute!

And speaking of dreams, I actually had a dream about these Louboutins last night!  I mean they spell out LO-VE.  What better way to spread it than to walk it all over town this Christmas?

LOVE Louboutins

I dreamt they were in this thrift store at, like, a third of the price (which believe me wouldn’t be totally affordable) and they were in my size. I could hardly believe my luck! When I woke up I knew it was a dream because who would give up this season’s cutest Louboutin flats?  Definitely not a shoe girl and they would be the only ones crazy enough to spend that kind of money on shoes.

Another pair of shoes I cannot get out of my head are these Balmain’s.  Totally impractical, totally ostentatious, totally cute!

Balmain

Every time I see them I like them more. I have no idea what I would wear them with, or to, but I am pretty sure if anyone was to buy me a pair (the only way I would ever get my hot little hands on them) I would find places to wear them and buy a new outfit to go with them (which would be cheaper than the shoes anyways).

I know I can be a difficult person to shop for.  I tend to like things that are only available in the US, or totally expensive.  It is honestly because I like the item I am asking for because usually I don’t know any of these things until after Christmas and my Mom explains why I didn’t get (and never will) the items on my list. In order to remedy that this year I have come up with a great alternative…

Valentino

These Valentino’s already come wrapped with a bow!  How cute would Santa’s Little Helper look this year? (yeah, yeah…they are still ridiculously expensive, but they are available in Canada to be shipped to Canada! *sigh*)

Well, maybe with the magic of the season, a generous Secret Santa, and a letter writing campaign to the man himself I will find one of these lovelies underneath my tree this year.  (I wonder where I can buy a cute frame for the picture?  Oh, and you can find the pictures here and here)

How Much is Too Much to Spend on Shoes?

I have been thinking a lot about shoes lately.  Yes, yes, no suprise there.  However, I was thinking about how maybe $300+ is a lot to spend on one pair of shoes.  There are a lot of really cute, really cheap shoes out there, so why bother parting with 300 hard-earned loonies?  Below are two pictures of rain boots on the market right now.  Can you tell which one is the more expensive pair?  I think I can, but I am starting to wonder if it is just because I know which one it is that the choice is obvious.  Walking down the street, would it matter what the label was?

Boot 1                                                                           Boot 2

Can you tell what the difference is?  Check to see if you were right by clicking on the boot.

Did you know one has a famous pattern?  That the cheaper one is warmer?  I did, but does that mean I can justify spending that much money on a pair of rain boots?  Because of the label?  I don’t know.

As I was covering the phones at work the other day I was staring out the window people watching and I saw a girl tottering down the street with a group of friends. They were all laughing and dressed up in cute work clothes. But what drew my attention to that particular girl was the fact she was wearing Louboutin.  The red soles of her black boots peeped out as she passed. She looked…happy (although a bit unbalanced).  The way I must look when I totter down the street in my Louboutins.  I think that if it makes you that happy (and you can afford it!)  why not spend the money on shoes?  Or patterned rain boots that will get worn exactly 34 days of the year.
