Things I Learned At My Sister’s Bachelorette

Saturday Night was Stephtastic’s Bachelorette. I finally got my voice back today. It was fun, but of course all the gory details are unfit to print.  I must say it was a learning experience.

Things I Learned at My Sister’s Bachelorette.

  1. Boys will do anything for a girl in a veil.  Anything.
  2. Everyone wishes the bridesmaids good luck as well.  Everyone just wants us to be “lucky”.
  3. The amazingly fabulous guy at Starbucks lets us take “one more” picture in the store, even though it isn’t allowed.  Apparently brides can break the rules.
  4. MPW is the most patient man in the world.  He picked us up at 3:00 in the morning and drove the girls to the hotel while every time the car stopped I yelled out the window to random people on the street “My sister’s getting mar-ried” (hence no voice).  Hey, it’s Toronto.  There are always people awake.
  5. Cops like getting their pictures taken.  I think it improves their community image.
  6. Girls give their boyfriends dirty looks when they see others getting married.
  7. VIP is the only way to go. Now I know why the celebs like it.
  8. I dolook good in a tiara.  Stephtastic is right, my head is made for them.
  9. People want to get their pic taken with the bride-to-be.  She’s kind of like Madonna that way.

Since I can’t give the gory details, here are some PG pics from the night.

A Piggy At The Bank

pt-piggy-bank-pink-2

Yesterday I went to a bank to meet with a financial advisor and talk about transferring my funds from my current bank (the customer service sucks  so large).  I am totally excited to be there as my Mom has been working with her for years and years and years and she really knows what she is doing.  My Mom and I drove up together because our appointments were back to back.

As we were sitting in the lobby of the bank this man comes in carrying 3 or 4 stuffed grocery bags. He calls out to the receptionist behind the counter “Buzz me in!”, which she does.  At this point I look at my Mom and she says to me “what no good morning?  No thank you?” (My Mom is pretty strict about social conventions. She is the Dear Abbey of our family.)  I laughed a bit and that was that.

My Mom went in to meet with the planner first.  Keep in mind neither of us belong to this bank, our advisor has just moved there and my Mom wants to make the move with her.  As I am waiting the same guy comes back out into the lobby and stands at the counter.  This was their conversation.

“Hey can I have some (blah blahs…I didn’t really hear him)?” he asks.

“How much?” the receptionist responds.

“You mean how many” he condescends.

She laughs and makes light of it. “Oh I didn’t read my dictionary this morning. I need to brush up on my English.” (She speaks English perfectly well, she just has an accent.)

“Oh don’t worry,” he responds laughing, “I would do the same if I were practicing Russian.”

*pause*

“I’m Hungarian,” she says.

“Oh right,” he says snobbily, “I knew it was one of those Slavic languages.”

*pause*

“It’s Finnish…So how many do you need?” she asks.

“Two.”

“Oh that’s it,” she says loudly, “Do you want me to assemble them.”

“No,” he scoffs, “I think I can handle it.  Hold my calls, I’m busy.” And he storms down the stairs and goes to Starbucks, not even looking my way.

I am a potential client and this is what I hear in the lobby.  Good grief!  It’s a good thing those boxes were white otherwise he might not have been able to handle it.  Ignorance is alive and well.

B & J Party Shout Out

On the Saturday that just passed MPW and I went to B & J’s 3rd annual Birthday Bash.  Yes, they are aware of the dirty-sounding name.  Becky and Jeremy’s birthdays are days apart, so they combined it to make one big party.  Pretty smart, huh?

So there was a lot  mountains of food, there was hockey and there were laughs.  A good time was had by all.  Oh, and there was a Sprout (that’s the poodle you can see peeking out at the bottom of the picture).  She is the cutest thing ever.  She prances and she loves being cuddled. She is so smart and if you tickle her just  so, she does an Elvis impersonation.  A-dor-a-ble!  We left Angus at home because, hey, mommy and daddy need a break too sometimes.

I guess now I have to return the favour and have her over to my house. *Hey MPW, get out the vacuum
