That Just Happened!

Last night I decided to do a little domestic work.  I sorted the laundry (no easy task with the fur monster trying to catch every sock in his mouth and dig up a pile of underoos) and baked a cake.  Then I did the dishes.  I know, right?  Me in the kitchen!  Oh horrors of horrors!  (Hey now we all know I can bake. Just do not ask me to do a roast…or spaghetti.)

I used a mix, what could go wrong?  Apparently nothing.  I lightly greased and lightly floured the pan and put it into the oven for the recommended time.  (May I interject here that I like love having an oven that doesn’t automatically heat to 500 degrees.)  It came out marvelously.  All lemon-y and golden.  I cooled it on the rack and flipped the pan with a flourish.  Nothing.  The cake did not come out.  So I tapped on the bottom and…

 In my years of baking I have never had this happen to me.  As the girls can attest to, last year’s Christmas cookies/fudge was good (right?) and I have baked some amazing cakes (right?)  so what happened? 

After hearing a cry of “Nooooooo!” come from the kitchen, MPW is never that concerned, but this time I must have sounded especially forlorn because he came right away.  After surveying the mess he asked “Well, does it taste okay?”  I had no idea, so he tried it.  Apparently it is really good.  Still feeling sorry for myself I said, “Well good, then this is what we are having for dinner.  Crumbled cake.”  *sniff*  At this point MPW looks at me and goes “Okay,” kisses my cheek and goes back to his computer while calling over his shoulder “It does taste good, baby”.  Awwwwwww.  That was so sweet, right?  I mean that is love.  Willing to eat crumbled cake out of a tin for dinner.  So amazing! 

Until I realized this just means he doesn’t have to cook and since he left, I alone must clean up the mess.
